GDSR Update - March 2026
Applications will be opening at 9am on Wednesday 1 April for the 2026 round of the Game Development Sector Rebate (GDSR).
The application period will remain open until 4pm on Friday 15 May 2026.
Every business that plans to apply for the 2026 GDSR will have already registered into the NZ On Air Portal as part of GDSR Registration – which was open between 20 January and 27 February – and will have received confirmation they are eligible to apply for the 2026 GDSR.
All GDSR Applications go through the NZ On Air Portal. This portal is where successful applicants will then be able to view all the details of their contract, send invoices and manage their account.
Adding additional people
Just a reminder – anyone new who is going to work on your application, or create and send invoices, will also need to have an account in the NZ On Air Portal. They can create an account by visiting the NZ On Air Portal and clicking ‘Create Account’ in the top right-hand corner.
It is also important to point out that anyone who registers into your company account will have access to all documentation relating to your company, including all the details of your applications, contracts and payments.
Webinar
The NZGDA hosted a GDSR webinar on Tuesday 17 March where the NZ On Air Games team walked through the full application process, including completing the relevant financial and games templates, plus answered questions around applying.
If you missed it, you can find a recording of the webinar here.
